During Huawei Connect Europe in Paris, with a theme of “Accelerate Green & Digital Transition Together", it was insightful to see how this tech giant can help the European market drive further to rapidly achieve a green and digital transformation.
Collaboration was a keyword shared amongst many of the speakers and the thought leaders attending.
"Europe is making incredible progress in digital transformation, and you are leading the global transition towards a greener future," said Ken Hu, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, in his opening remarks. "Huawei has been working side-by-side with our European customers and partners for more than 20 years now. We've made great progress connecting people, empowering businesses, and building Europe's digital ecosystem. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our support in Europe for digital transformation, local innovation, sustainability, and cyber security."
Jim Lu, Huawei Senior Vice President and President of the European Region, highlighted Huawei's long-term investment in R&D and customer-centric mindset as key to supporting Europe's green and digital transition.
Attending events in person gives me an opportunity to have more in-depth conversations with different executives, and to continue understanding how they are reaching the next level of innovations and advancements. Talking to partners also helps with the key reasons why they chose Huawei as a solutions provider.
3 areas stood out for me this year:
1- CLOUD INNOVATION
Innovative solutions such as the ones I saw during Huawei Connect Europe. are what drive industries further. Thanks to new Cloud ecosystems, we are able to unlock new growth for industries. I saw how Huawei Cloud is helping the European industry accelerate digital transformation and increase its influence around the world.
Dedicated to its strategy of making Everything as a Service, Huawei Cloud continues to innovate in cloud native, databases, and AI. In Europe, Huawei Cloud provides trustworthy, reliable, and stable cloud services safeguarded by security compliance, privacy protection, and deterministic operations.
During my chat with Tim Tao, President of Huawei Europe Cloud Business Department, he spoke about the Cloud Kooverse, Pangu models innovation, advanced AI, and why powerful ecosystems help Enterprises meet the European demand to develop and go global.
The recently released Pangu Big Model 3.0 is dedicated to developing industry models and capability sets for industries such as finance, government, manufacturing, mining, meteorology, and railway. Combining industry knowledge and know-how with big model capabilities.
To better serve EU customers, Huawei Cloud has set up partner cloud support centers in France and Hungary, European R&D and innovation centers in Germany, and a European public cloud service center, ecosystem development center, and solution development center in Ireland.
2- TECH4ALL
I was pleased to see this area exhibited. As someone who closely monitors good TECH4ALL projects, I was intrigued to see if there was anything new to discover. Gary Maidement, Tech4All Communications Manager, shared how technology enables smart nature conservation.
This is where the mix of technology and partnerships comes into play. We are talking about drones, camera traps, acoustic sensors, tracking tags and satellite remote sensing to name a few. Many of the conservation nature projects around the world, are using technologies to help protect species and ecosystems across the planet. Without technology, it would be a much lengthier process
3- GREEN FORUM
I enjoyed the Better Together Go Green Forum, I sum it up in 3 words: Insightful, powerful, and eye-opening.
We need to continue having powerful discussions and seeing how technology can help us lead a more sustainable life. Technology is always advancing, but are we also creating balance? We need solutions that do both, help enterprises save costs, be more efficient and productive, and also that help the planet we live in for generations to come.
Tony Yong Jin, Vice President of the Huawei European Region mentioned how Huawei promotes green development through ICT Innovations. We are talking about digital inclusion, digital talent, digital trust, and SME transformation. In Europe alone, Huawei has helped reduce carbon emissions by 102 million tons, which is the equivalent of planting 140 million trees
Karl Song, President of the Public Affairs Department at Huawei Digital Power, spoke about integrating digital and power electronics technologies developing clean power, and enabling energy digitalization to drive energy revolution for a better and greener future.
Huawei Smart PV as an example is helping build the world’s largest hydro-solar plant. There was so much information shared on Digital Power, that I will save my further thoughts for a deeper article on digital power.
Overall, Huawei strives to spark innovation, build strong local support, and enable the local ecosystem to realize 'In Europe, For Europe'
Let’s remember, that partnerships are key because together, we are stronger.
