Hitachi making waves: Action For A Sustainable Future





"Veni, Vidi, Vinci" are the first words that come to mind after seeing Hitachi's latest sustainability promo campaign.


Hitachi has been dedicated to its mission for more than a century: "to contribute to society through the advancement of innovative technology and products." Sustainability is a central focus of Hitachi's business approach, advocating for inclusivity and participation in shaping a sustainable future for all.


Hitachi's newest campaign is creative, fun, and captivating. Perhaps I'm slightly partial due to my background in entertainment during my youth. Therefore, this campaign captured my attention right from the start!


The campaign/movie it’s called “Hitachi: Action For a Sustainable Future”


For the past few days, we’ve seen a few trailers on different digital media channels and we had all been waiting for the release of the full movie to learn how Hitachi plans to build a sustainable future.

It lived up to expectations and was packed with action!


Key messages from the movie


  1. To efficiently connect windfarms to millions of homes and businesses

  2. Next-Generation battery hybrids to help fight carbon emissions

  3. GenAI and cloud storage. They have achieved enterprise-grade AI and data centers with up to 96% less CO2

  4. Robotic systems building batteries for electric school buses

  5. Las Vegas: Partnership with The Sphere to push the limits of data delivery

  6. Working with a MedTech firm to develop a life saving digital technology. It protects at-risk cardiac patients


One crucial point to remember is that we cannot accomplish it independently. Collaboration, as I frequently emphasize, is essential. According to Hitachi, it is the collective responsibility of everyone to act together in order to realize a sustainable future.


Now, let's focus on the task at hand and discuss the significance of sustainability for Hitachi, along with some examples from the key messages.


Why is sustainability so important at Hitachi?


In 2024, Hitachi maintains a strong emphasis on sustainability by incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its business strategy. Through a commitment to sustainability, Hitachi seeks to encourage innovation for the advancement of a low-carbon society, facilitate digital transformation to improve social infrastructure, and cultivate a robust and equitable economy.


This commitment not only aligns with global climate goals but also strengthens Hitachi's reputation as a leader in responsible business practices, helping to build trust with stakeholders and ensuring long-term growth in a rapidly evolving market.

For instance, the collaboration between Hitachi and The Sphere in Las Vegas marks a major advancement in expanding the boundaries of data transmission and immersive digital interactions. The Sphere, a cutting-edge entertainment facility renowned for its innovative technology, employs a top-of-the-line LED screen and immersive sound systems to offer unmatched visual and auditory experiences. Hitachi is instrumental in this joint effort by utilizing its sophisticated data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to improve content distribution, boost operational effectiveness, and tailor experiences for guests.


By partnering with Hitachi, The Sphere benefits from the integration of data-driven solutions to effectively handle and analyze the large volume of information produced by its advanced systems. Utilizing its cutting-edge technologies in AI, data management, and sustainable infrastructure, Hitachi has successfully developed enterprise-level Generative AI (GenAI) and cloud storage solutions. Through the integration of AI functionalities with cloud storage, Hitachi has empowered enterprises to leverage GenAI for various tasks like natural language processing, image recognition, and predictive analytics. Hitachi's dedication to creating efficient, scalable, and secure AI-powered solutions is further enhanced by its strong commitment to sustainability, guaranteeing that these advancements are eco-friendly.

It's not the end of 2024 yet, and I'm excited to track Hitachi's progress and discuss the development of their core messages. As I often mention, the rapid pace of technology can be challenging to keep up with, but when harnessed effectively, it empowers society to reach greater heights.


It's great to see tech giants leveraging their larger budgets to invest in projects, solutions, and products that are meaningful and have a positive impact.


It's important to not only talk about something but also put it into practice. During my video interviews with various C-Level executives at MWC last year, I emphasized the need for less talk and more action. This year at MWC24, I observed a greater emphasis on taking action. I had declared that 2024 would be the year of action, and Hitachi has certainly lived up to that expectation.


In 2024, I believe that Hitachi is one of the brands that has truly improved, not just in terms of communication, but also in terms of providing practical solutions. Innovation should not be limited to generating ideas and action plans that are never implemented.


It is important to have action plans that are implemented, and tech giants should take the lead in setting a positive example to motivate the future generation of leaders.


I am excited for what is yet to come. So let's continue this journey of tech discovery together.
