Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2023 brought together mobile and tech brands from across the world to showcase their products and solutions.
150 out of 2000 exhibitors were Chinese, and during MWC23, tech giant Huawei made a statement by having the largest booth they’ve ever had with 9,000 square meters of exhibition space.
After being relatively quiet over the last two years and dealing with western sanctions, this time they were not shy with their presence and were ready to show partners and visitors what they had to offer.
My focus is always to get a better understanding of how technology and innovation can help businesses and society be smarter, more safe, more efficient, and more productive.
Under the theme “GUIDE to the intelligent world", Huawei showcased its latest products and solutions that deliver ultimate 5G experiences, digital and intelligent transformation, and their Green 1-2-3 solution.
This year, we also saw a few of their partners on site, which I found to be powerful as they were sharing real cases and why they choose Huawei to partner with.
The first highlight is Huawei’s Emergency Management Solution.
I got a chance to speak to Mr. Hong-En Koh, Global Chief Public Services Industry Scientist, who shared that Huawei's command & control system has the strongest convergence capability in the industry and is the only one that integrates trunking, on-site, and conference videos.
Did you know that this solution was used in the rescue of the 12 Thailand boys that went missing in the cave?
(to learn more about this solution, you can watch my in-depth interview with Mr. Koh)
The second highlight is the 5.5G Era.
The company aims to work with carriers and industry partners around the world to further the evolution of ICT infrastructure and build on the success of 5G.
Huawei says Technological innovation in the 5.5G era will bring operators a 10-fold increase in network performance over 5G and drive a 100-fold increase in new business opportunities.
The third highlight is Data Storage.
During MWC23, Huawei launched a series of innovative storage products and solutions to help global carriers build a trustworthy storage foundation in the multi-cloud era.
Huawei Data Storage is widely recognized by the industry helping more than 18,000 customers in over 150 countries.
For example, Huawei’s OceanStor Dorado has been named a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage for 7 consecutive years.
And Huawei OceanProtect was validated as the Next-Gen Backup Storage System by Evaluator Group a world-renowned IT analysis company.
Talking to Mr. Alex Zhang, Vice President of IT Product Line, I got a better understanding of how Huawei data storage is doing in the European market, how they continue to build trust ,and how they tackle the challenges multi-cloud is facing.
(more details on my interview with Mr. Zhang)
Last but not least, Huawei’s GUIDE business blueprint to create a better digital economy together.
The aim is to help operators develop the five key capabilities required for business success:
expanding services, innovating efficiently, leveraging resources, competing on value, and contributing to society which is what leads to the acceleration of green ICT development.
This year, it stood out how many more use cases they had to present. From theory to implementation, this is what we need to see more off from all brands.
The bottom line, we discovered more solutions on how technology and innovation can help businesses be more intelligent, efficient, and productive.
Let’s continue building the right partnerships around the globe because as I always say, together we are stronger.
Stay tuned for a few more highlights from MWC23 over the next week.
